Father, who was Lebanese, also didn’t resist; the brother, who is also Brazilian, is hospitalized
The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Itamaraty – confirmed this Monday (27) the death of three Brazilians from the same family in Lebanon after an attack by Israel. It involves an 11-year-old child and his mother. The father, who was Lebanese, also didn’t resist. His brother, who is also Brazilian, is hospitalized. According to the Itamaraty note, the family was at their residence, in the Bint Jeil district, in South Lebanon, at the time of the Israeli bombing.
“In expressing sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the Brazil reiterates its strongest condemnation of all attacks carried out during the ceasefire, both by Israeli forces and Hezbollah.”, says the note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The Brazilian Embassy in Beirut is in contact with the family of the deceased Brazilians to provide consular assistance, including for their hospitalized son.”, it adds.
In the note, Itamaraty also highlights that the bombing took place at a time when the countries are experiencing a truce, which began on April 16th and was extended for three weeks on April 23rd. “That attack constitutes yet another example of the repeated and unacceptable violations of the ceasefire announced on April 16, which have already resulted in the deaths of dozens of Lebanese civilians, including women and children, as well as a journalist and two French members of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)”, says the note.
