The Minister of Social Development, , will resume his mandate as senator to participate in the vote on the nomination of the minister of the AGU (Attorney General of the Union), , to the (Supreme Federal Court).
Dias’s replacement, Jussara Lima (PSD), is part of the hard core of Lula’s (PT) base in , but the minister stated that he would like to participate in the vote because of his friendship with Messias and his family, who lives in Piauí.
Currently, Dias is . Last month, Carlos Fávaro (PSD), from Agriculture, Camilo Santana (PT), from Education, and Renan Filho (MDB), from Transport, left the government and resumed their mandates as senator to participate in the October elections.
Despite Jussara’s support for Messias, the presence of ministers in the plenary helps to reinforce political articulation. The government is confident that Messias will be approved, but the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), .
Messias will be questioned this Wednesday (29) by the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), more than six months before the vacancy opened with the retirement of STF minister Luís Roberto Barroso.
