Not Pochettino, not Deschamps, not Klopp. Florentino Pérez, who will be in charge of choosing the Merengues’ next coach, wants Mourinho, according to The Athletic. “Mourinho has made it clear” that he wants to return to Madrid.
The SL Benfica coach, Jose Mourinhois the preferred candidate of the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, to take over the technical command of the meringues.
The information is provided by “multiple anonymous sources” to , which adds that it is the Special One who will advance if Álvaro Arbeloa leaves the technical command of the squad at the end of the season.
This Tuesday, the famous journalist specializing in the transfer market Fabrizio Romano also: Real Madrid was informed that Mourinho wants to return.
“Mourinho made it clear to those close to him that he would like to return and have a second opportunity at the club,” writes the Italian journalist.
The current coach and former Real Madrid full-back was appointed in January, after the dismissal of compatriot Xabi Alonso, but is expected to leave his position after a season that is on track to end without the desired titles.
According to various sources cited by The New York Times, the choice of the next coach is being led directly by Florentino Pérezwho wants Mourinho to return.
Pérez intends to rebuild a sporting project that he considers worn out, after Real Madrid prepares to complete the second consecutive season without winning La Liga, Champions League or Copa del Rey.
However, the newspaper highlights, the return of the Portuguese coach to the Spanish capital is not unanimous in the structure of blancos.

Mourinho’s return to the Santiago Bernabéu would be a second round of the Mou-Pérez partnership, which between 2010 and 2013 won three trophies, including the 2011/12 Spanish title, with record points.
The Champions League, which the 63-year-old coach won with FC Porto and Inter Milan, was the biggest goal that remained unfulfilled during his time in Madrid.
And the period was also marked by strong internal divisions, particularly in the dressing room, and by tensions with Iker Casillas, legend and then captain of the team.

It is worth remembering that Mourinho arrived at Benfica in September and has contract until June 2027but the agreement includes a release clause of around three million eurosactionable by either party up to ten days after the last game of the season.
