Trump and Charles of England resort to pomp to get bilateral relations back on track

Nothing like a little pomp and circumstance for London and Washington, which has been very touched in recent months. The formula, of course, seems infallible when it comes to ingratiating himself with the American president, and on the other side is the British monarchy. After months of imprecations against Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Government, and threatening last week to even recognize Argentina’s sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, this Tuesday the Republican had very warm words towards bilateral ties when giving the king and his wife, Camilla, on the second day of the royal couple’s state visit. But along with the pomp, the British sovereign has carried a clear message to a Trump who is disdainful of European partners: the transatlantic alliance between the United States and Europe “is more important today than ever.”
