Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon kill paramedics, women and a Lebanese soldier despite truce
The attacks by the Israeli army, which maintains its offensive on southern Lebanon as part of its fight against Hezbollah, continue to cause fatalities among unarmed people or people unrelated to the conflict. During the last hours, the report that the Ministry of Health has issued on two of the multiple attacks that are taking place records the death of three paramedics, two women and a Lebanese soldier.
Israel protects these hostilities in the freedom of action guaranteed by the truce with Lebanon, signed by the United States. Hezbollah, on the other hand, rejects a cessation that allows Israel to maintain attacks, and its response against the Israeli army is causing an escalation in the exchange of blows that since Sunday has left a dozen deaths daily in Lebanon.
In a statement, the Emergency Operations Center of the Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday an attack during the night of Tuesday in Jebchit, near the city of Nabatie, which has caused five deaths, including a Lebanese army soldier – neutral in the conflict – and two women. The attack also left 21 injured, including four children.
The country’s president, Joseph Aoun, and prime minister, Nawaf Salam, have condemned a double attack that took place on Tuesday in Majdal Zoun, a municipality near the southern city of Tyre. When a contingent of three Civil Defense members went to rescue the victims of the first bombing from the rubble, a second missile killed them. The incident left a total of five fatalities, according to the Ministry of Health, which denounces Israel for having killed 103 medical workers in Lebanon since March 2 – almost two a day. More than 2,530 people have died in the conflict during the same period, according to the same source.
