Cláudia Ribeiro had already, on a temporary basis, led the Civil House since António José Seguro took office. The President of the Republic pointed out that this is the first time that a woman has held this role.

In a note this Wednesday on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic on the Internet in which this appointment is announced, the Head of State “notes with particular satisfaction that, for For the first time in the history of the Presidency of the Republic, a woman leads the Civil House“.
Seguro considers that the appointment of the jurist is “a step that reflects the commitment to more balanced representation in the highest public responsibilities“.
For the position of secretary of the State Council another woman has now been appointed – Cristina Correia -, reads the same note.
According to the Presidency of the Republic, “these appointments consolidate the constitution of the Civil House and complete a transition phase conducted with serenity and efficiency, ensuring continuity and good management of ongoing dossiers”.
The note states that Cláudia Ribeiro “joins the recognized competence with a relationship of professional and personal trust built over several years with the President of the Republic and which enable him to place responsibility on the new head of the Civil House for carrying out a demanding role of great dedication in the service of the State”.
