- The wife of the Spanish Prime Minister Begoňa Gómez filed a criminal complaint against the influencer.
- Vito Quiles confronted Gómez in a Madrid cafe about her corruption case.
- He recorded the confrontation on video and chased her from the cafe to the taxi.
- Gómez is facing an investigation for abuse of power, a charge she strongly denies.
- Criticism of Quiles’ behavior was expressed by socialists and populists, with partial defense.
The influencer published a video on the Internet in which he can be seen approaching the Prime Minister’s wife in a cafe and he follows her into the street, asking her about her corruption case, despite being pushed away from Gómez by two women while she was getting into a taxi.
Gómez is being investigated for allegations that she used her position as the prime minister’s wife to gain business contacts, allegations she denies. A Spanish prosecutor this month asked an investigating judge to close the case, which was brought by far-right groups. Reuters reminded.
The actions of the influencer towards the prime minister’s wife were condemned on Wednesday by members of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and the opposition conservative People’s Party (PP). However, PP spokeswoman Ester Muñozová stated that Quiles is also a “victim” of the actions of the women who tried to keep him away from Gómez, saying that he “understands that there are journalists who want to ask (Gómez) questions.”
