President Luiz Inácio da Silva said this Friday (1) that he determined that the federal government supports the authorities of Pernambuco to respond to the effects of the rains that hit the state.
Lula spoke through X, formerly Twitter. He mentioned having spoken to the former mayor of Recife (PSB) and the senator (-PE). The PT member did not mention the governor (PSD), who will run for reelection this year and will have João Campos as her main opponent.
“I spoke on the phone this morning with former mayor João Campos and senator Humberto Costa about the heavy rains falling in Greater Recife and other regions of Pernambuco. I immediately determined prompt federal support for local authorities”, declared the president.
“The Minister of Regional Integration, Waldez Góes, activated the National Civil Defense to provide full support to the affected cities, including recognizing the emergency situation and deploying technicians to the area. The Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, also mobilized the SUS National Force to assist the victims,” said Lula.
The Metropolitan Region of Recife is on alert, declared by Apac (Pernambucana Water and Climate Agency) due to the rains. Flooding was recorded in places such as the capital of Pernambuco, Olinda and São Lourenço da Mata.
