“DO IT”. Trump enthusiastically supports changing the name of the immigration service from ICE to NICE.

Donald Trump expressed support for the vague proposal to change the name of the US agency responsible for immigration and customs, known by the acronym ICE, to “NICE” (good, pleasant or friendly, translating into Portuguese).

The new name would correspond to the National Immigration and Customs Service, maintaining the functions of the current structure, but changing the way it is publicly presented.

The idea emerged in a publication by conservative influencer Alyssa Marie, who defended the change with an admittedly communicational objective: forcing the media to refer to agents as “NICE”.

“I want Trump to change [o nome] so that the media is forced to say ‘NICE agents’ [agentes bons] every day”, wrote the influencer, on X, to which Trump on Truth Social: “GREAT IDEA!!! DO IT.”

The suggestion quickly gained echo among the President’s supporters and figures close to the administration. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt shared the news, while other conservative influencers pressured administration officials to move forward with the amendment. The White House’s official account on X also published the proposal.

There is still no official confirmation that the change will come to fruition. Changing the name of a North American federal agency would, in principle, require Congressional approval, as it would imply changes to the legislation that created the organization.

The proposal comes at a time of strong opposition to ICE’s actions, following controversial deaths of and , in Minnesota, which involved agency agents, triggered protests in several areas of the United States and intensified criticism.
