Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today criticized the new sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on the island, calling them “unilateral coercive measures” that aim to impose “collective punishment against the Cuban people”.
In a post on X, Rodriguez said that the measures violate the United Nations Charter and that the US has no right to impose them against Cuba, third countries or entities.
“Reprehensible, but curious and ridiculous. The US government is alarmed and responds with new illegal and abusive unilateral coercive measures against Cuba,” he wrote, adding that “they will not frighten us.”
Along with the post, Rodriguez shared photos and videos of Cubans celebrating the May 1 parade in Havana.
