Deputy Max Lemos’ car is the target of gunfire in Duque de Caxias

Congressman was returning to Rio when criminals approached the vehicle; no one was injured

The federal deputy’s car (União Brasil-RJ) was shot in the early hours of Friday (May 1, 2026) on BR-116, in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro.

The congressman was in the vehicle with his team at the time of the shooting, returning to Rio after commitments in Miracema. The car was armored and no one was injured.

According to the incident report, the car the congressman was in was approached by at least two armed people in a Fiat Pulse. The action took place around 3:40 in the morning.

To avoid being stopped, Max Lemos’ driver carried out an evasive maneuver to avoid the criminals, but there was a collision between the vehicles before he was able to leave the scene.

The case was registered as an attempted vehicle theft at the 62nd DP (Imbariê). The authors of the approach were not identified.

Max Lemos said that “fully believes in the police investigation”.
