Lula says he will create 41 places for truck drivers to “rest”

The measure is part of a program that will allocate R$21.2 billion in credit lines for the purchase of trucks and buses

The president (PT) said that truck drivers will have 41 places to rest until the end of 2026. The announcement was made during the 2nd phase of the Move Brasil program.

The PT member asked that Caixa Econômica Federal, Banco do Brasil and BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) “Treat with care” self-employed truck drivers. The Move Brasil program will allocate R$21.2 billion in credit lines for the purchase of trucks and buses and road equipment.

The 1st phase of the program, announced in January 2026, allocated R$10 billion in credits to the sector. Prices were sold out in 90 days.

MOVE BRAZIL

In January 2026, the government launched the Move Brasil program to finance the purchase of new and pre-owned trucks by self-employed people, cooperatives and companies in the road freight transport sector.

The 1st part of the program offered R$10 billion in credit, with resources from the National Treasury and BNDES. Of the total amount, R$1 billion was reserved exclusively for self-employed and cooperative truck drivers.
