Austria needs immigration – but not everyone

When Claudia Bauer talks about immigrants, mistrust is appropriate. The ÖVP politician, nominally responsible for integration, has already attracted attention with bad propaganda. But this time, when presenting a study by researcher Rainer Münz, she put her finger on a real wound: a depressing number of refugee women are not in professional life. Of the Syrians, Afghans and Somalis who came with the great momentum in 2015 and 2016, only about a third were in “sufficient” employment eight to nine years later.
