The leader of the PT in , Pedro Uczai (SC), defends that the government does not revoke the “blouse tax”, as it became known via e-commerce.
The return of the exemption is being studied by President Lula’s (PT) team to reverse a measure taken at the beginning of his term.
In addition to , who complained about supposed unfair competition with companies based in China when there was no import tax, Uczai states that online shopping is one of the three pillars of family debt that the government is trying to combat with .
“We have three reasons for debt, in my opinion: the abusive and criminal interest rate of the Central Bank, betting and online consumption. The release of blouses increases consumption and increases debt”, he states.
For the PT leader, the end of the tax would produce “momentary satisfaction” with purchases, but, in the medium term, it would have consequences for families. “I think that today we don’t have a problem with consumption in the country, with economic growth. It only reduces the interest rate by 2%, it grows, there is no need to take taxes. It just reduces the interest rate”, he says.
Despite the opinion in favor of maintaining the fee, Uczai states that the government will have no difficulty in approving the exemption in Congress, if that is the option chosen. “There is no one who will oppose it. We are in the pre-election period, supporting tax reductions is good for everyone”, he says.
The PT member also suggests that the left and the government change the discourse around the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) 6×1, of . “I think this expression of ‘two days to rest’ is wrong. It’s two days to live, two days to spend with the children, to date, love, celebrate”, he says.
The PT bench, it states, will defend that the PEC be applied immediately, without a transition rule, with a reduction in working hours from 44 hours to 40 hours a week and the end of the scale of 6 days worked to 1 day off.
