The former governor of Minas Gerais and pre-candidate for president Romeu Zema (Novo) defended this Monday (4) that Brazilians should choose him in the October elections instead of Flavio Bolsonaro (PL) for not having a “tail tied up”.
In an interview with UolZema said he has “a different background” that resembles that of the majority of the Brazilian population. He mentioned that he started working in a family business at the age of 14 and criticized former presidents who came from the public sector: “Tax collectors”.
“In Minas, I didn’t take my relative to work and whoever stole lost space. And that’s what I’m going to do in Brazil. I don’t have my tail tied up. I don’t have these political collusions that keep everyone tied up, afraid of telling the truth. So I have some differences there,” said Zema.
The former governor is one of those considered to be on Flávio’s ticket as vice-president, but reiterated that his intention is to maintain his candidacy until the end.
Regarding disagreements with the Bolsonaro family, Zema recalled the Covid-19 pandemic, stating that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) “belittled” the severity of the disease. However, he declared that he approached Bolsonarism because he also had an “anti-PT” feeling.
