The projection is to elect six state deputies and at least one federal deputy in 2026
The president of Podemos de Mato Grosso and the Legislative Assembly, Max Russi, left the party window with impressive numbers. In an interview with Jovem Pan, the deputy revealed that the party had three state deputies, one federal deputy and 30 mayors. “We came out of this window very big,” he said. The projection is to elect six state deputies and at least one federal deputy in 2026. “We will certainly exceed 400 thousand votes and we will double our representation within the Assembly.”
Russi did not hide his inclination towards the name of Flávio Bolsonaro. “When Flávio’s name was named, there was already a trend within our state, for agribusiness, in short, for the composition of our state’s economy,” he said. “In the state of Mato Grosso there is a very strong right-wing bias. And Flávio is a trend.” The two have already met at a fair in the north of the state, but without any progress regarding an alliance. “We greeted each other, but we didn’t have a moment to talk, talk about alliances, nothing like that, but it’s our tendency here in the state to be walking together.”
Regarding alliances, Russi stated that he will not make decisions alone. “We will listen to the candidates for state deputy, the candidates for federal deputy and also the 30 mayors who joined the party.” Asked about following the same path as the national leadership, which in São Paulo signaled support for the Republican governor, the deputy was cautious. “We will wait for this moment of convergence, these conversations, these alignments.”
Faced with the wave of femicides in Mato Grosso, Russi recognized the limits of the legislation. “Increased sentences, laws, debates, advertising campaigns end up not solving this problem, because it is very strong, unfortunately, in the culture of some men who think that women are their property.” The solution, according to him, is through education. “We need to work on this within schools, with our children, with our teenagers, to try to change this reality.”
Regarding the overturning of the dosimetry veto, he was direct. “It was a correct decision by Congress. This dosimetry needed to be done. I think the intensification will increase now, getting closer to the elections, more and more”, said Russi.
