  • Markus Söder asked Fico to maintain Slovakia’s pro-European course.
  • The Bavarian government perceives the planned visit of the Slovak prime minister to Ukraine as a positive signal.
  • The meeting in Munich had a working nature and was initiated by the Slovak side.
  • The negotiations took place in close coordination with the German federal government.
  • Fico emphasized that a large part of Slovak exports goes to Bavaria.

Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder intensively during Thursday’s meeting in Munich asked Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico that Slovakia maintain a pro-European course. The Bavarian government also sees the visit to Ukraine, which Fico announced last week, as a positive signal. This was reported by the DPA agency with reference to the spokesman of the Bavarian government.

“The meeting had a purely working nature and took place at the request of the Slovak side,” said the spokesman, according to which the meeting took place in close coordination with the German federal government.

Fico with Söder he mainly discussed economic issues. He described the interview as extremely open and rich in details. He also delivered a speech at the Slovak-Bavarian business and expert conference, where he pointed out that a large part of Slovak exports goes to Bavaria.
