Titles, goals and name in history: Hulk’s time at Atlético-MG

May 10th will be special and marks the end of a cycle filled with history and idolatry of Hulk at Atlético-MG.

This Sunday (10), Galo will say a big farewell to the striker at Arena MRV. The party takes place before the duel with Botafogo, in the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Hulk, already announced as a reinforcement for Fluminense, with titles and a name immortalized in the club.

Where it all started…

Atlético-MG announced the signing of Hulk at the end of January 2021 after winning competition from several European teams. The athlete came from a successful run in Chinese football and arrived in BH at no cost to the Minas Gerais team.

Its debut took place on March 7th. against Uberlândia, for the Campeonato Mineiro. The goal didn’t come in the first game, but Hulk participated in the 4-0 victory, assisting Diego Tardelli.

Hulk’s first goal with the black and white shirt didn’t take long to come. On March 19, the striker scored from the penalty spot in Galo’s victory over Coimbra.

2021 full of trophies

In addition to arriving at the club, 2021 marked Hulk’s most successful season at Atlético-MG. In four months at Galo he lifted the state cup and remained an important player in the sequence of titles.

Atlético-MG ended the 50-year long fast and won the Brasileirão title that year. Hulk left his mark on the campaign and became the competition’s top scorer with 19 goals.

To crown the golden year, Hulk was also decisive for Atlético-MG to lift the Copa do Brasil title, and became the tournament’s top scorer with eight goals.

2022 starting with title

The 2022 season had barely started, and Hulk once again lifted a trophy for the club. , he scored one of the goals in the draw against Flamengo.

Maintaining the sequence of “one title a month”, Hulk once again shone for the black and white team and, in the Mineiro final, he scored against rival Cruzeiro to win the title.

Historical marks

Hulk did not lift an international trophy for Galo. The striker finished second in the 2024 Libertadores for Botafogo and. But that didn’t stop him from writing his name in the club’s history book.

He is the greatest scorer in the history of Atlético-MG in the Libertadores. During his time at the Minas Gerais club, he scored 16 goals in the continental tournament. The black and white hero also became Galo’s top scorer in international competitions with 20 goals.

Hulk left his mark on the Atlético house. He is Arena MRV’s top scorer, scoring 24 times, and also the stadium’s top waiter, with 18 assists.

The star also made history by balancing the Mineirão nets. Hulk has been a top scorer since the stadium reopened in 2013, scoring 59 times.
