CONFLICT IN THE STRAIT OF ORMUZ

According to the Iranian agency the head of the Energy Commission of Iran’s Parliament, Hojjat al-Islam Moussa Ahmadi, stated that actions against Iranian oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz violate international law, but will not be enough to stop the country’s oil exports.

In a statement released by Iranian state media, Ahmadi said that the Iranian government is already planning different scenarios to maintain oil exports even in the face of increased external pressure and threats to the country’s energy sector.

According to the parliamentarian, Tehran has developed solutions to deal with both possible reductions in exports and possible impacts on oil storage capacity. He further stated that production remains stable in Iranian oil fields and that “there are no significant problems” in the sector.
