Material brings together records from US federal agencies and is available for public access
The United States Department of War released, on Friday (May 8, 2026), after authorization from the president (Republican Party), documents on UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects).
The files consist of dozens of photos and videos of unidentified flying objects from several US federal agencies, as well as documents from FBI investigations into UFO sightings. The files have been centralized into one that can be accessed without the need for security clearance.

According to Trump, the release of the documents meets the demand of the American population for transparency about government knowledge related to unidentified anomalous phenomena. The measure aims to end speculation fueled by the classification of files over decades. All documents underwent security review before public release.
An FBI file contains hundreds of pages of eyewitness accounts and public reports about unidentified flying objects. The War Department reported that some materials had previously been released by the agency.
“These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation, and it is time for the American people to see for themselves”, stated Pete Hegseth, US Secretary of War.
The War Department said it will continue to release additional files on an ongoing basis. The agencies have established that batches of documents will be released every few weeks. According to Washington, NASA will continue to apply advanced scientific instruments to investigate the phenomena and share the results with the public.
