TRE-RJ extends opening hours at polling stations

Units will now open from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday to facilitate access to services such as biometric registration and title issuance

O (Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro) extended the operating period of its voter service units in the state. The change took effect this Thursday (May 8, 2026) and covers stations located in the capital and in the interior of Rio de Janeiro. The units started to operate from 10am to 4pm, from Monday to Friday.

The TRE-RJ decision includes stations installed in shopping malls and other high-traffic locations. The objective is to facilitate citizens’ access to electoral services. The measure serves voters who face difficulties in attending units at more restricted times.

The new procedure benefits citizens who need to complete biometric registration, issue an electoral card and transfer their electoral address. The court seeks to alleviate service during periods of increased demand. The servers and attendants at the stations had their routines adjusted.

The extended hours are in effect permanently. Rio de Janeiro voters must observe the new schedule when planning visits to the units. TRE-RJ will maintain expanded operations to guarantee the population’s access to procedures related to electoral registration.
