At the same time, the President drew attention to the need for coordination between key European countries, such as Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Poland and the states of Northern and Eastern Europe, which are neighboring Russia. Stubb indicated that the format of the negotiations has not yet been determined – it could be a special plenipotentiary or a group of leaders who would conduct a dialogue with Moscow.
Coordination is key
The Finnish president emphasized that the success of any negotiations will depend on the united action of European countries. According to him, it is important that Europe unites on the issue of who will lead the negotiations and in what way. According to Stubb, this coordination is necessary for Europe to effectively face the challenges that the conflict in Ukraine brings.
Stubb also outlined three possible scenarios for the development of the war in Ukraine. The conflict may continue in its current form, a cease-fire may be concluded that could lead to a peace agreement, or one of the parties to the conflict may collapse. Despite these possible scenarios, the president expressed skepticism that peace could be achieved this year.

According to Stubb, the situation in Ukraine is extremely complex and requires a strategic approach. Although a peace agreement remains an option, the president warned that achieving it will be difficult and time-consuming. Europe should therefore be prepared for a long-term solution to the conflict, which will include not only diplomatic efforts, but also coordination between individual states.
