Actor, who lives in Portugal, states that the “Brazil problem turned out to be much more complex” than he supposed
Actor Pedro Cardoso said this Monday (May 11, 2026) that he will vote for the president (PT) in the October elections, even though he had the “fashed hopes” since the PT member assumed his 3rd term, in January 2023.
The artist, who lives in Portugal, declared that his vote for Lula in the last elections was because of “hope for a good Brazil to live in”. According to him, this expectation was only partially met.
“Brazil, under Lula’s order, has improved over many of its historical injustices, especially in what was the responsibility of the federal administration. Lula’s greatest achievement has been to be faithful to democracy, which is a lot! But, also, my initial hope has been frustrated, in part. The Brazil problem has revealed itself to be much more complex than my youthful innocence supposed”said the actor on his Instagram profile.
Cardoso spoke in “forces that resist leaving Brazil” and said that “Brazilian wealth passes through inheritance and class privileges”like this “poverty is also inherited”.
According to the actor, “those born impoverished do their best to achieve economic advancement” e “almost none” it achieves.
“I didn’t know, in my first days as a Lula voter, that economic power is more effective than democracy. I didn’t know that when they lacked arguments, and the truth about this unjust Brazil sounded unequivocal, that the rich would invent religious lies to promise illusory paradises”these.
“I didn’t know that oppression is planted within the oppressed by fallacious education, which makes them elect their own executioner. I didn’t know that power would cloud the vision of those who organized themselves through unions yesterday, as happened with the PT”he declared.
Cardoso stated that he will continue to vote for Lula, which confirms the expectations placed on the 2022 elections. “The vain arrogance of many PT members fills me with disappointment. But I’m going to vote for Lula because of everything that worked”these.
