Brussels – The European Commission has initially rejected an EU-wide ban on so-called conversion therapies against lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans people. The 27 EU states themselves are responsible for such a step, the Commission said on Wednesday in its response to a petition. The practices have been banned by law in Germany since 2020, and in Austria, conversion therapies are to be banned according to the government program.
