Study shows that 56% of Brazilians consider placing bets or participating in pools during the tournament that will be played in Canada, USA and Mexico
Interest in betting is greater among young people who did not follow the last world title, reaching 69%. Among people in debt, the rate rises to 79%. The survey interviewed 561 workers over the age of 18 across Brazil, with family incomes from R$1,600 to more than R$24,000.
According to the survey, 54% point to fun and entertainment as the main motivation for betting. Another 31% say they are looking for extra income to cover monthly expenses, while 15% see a way to pay off debt.
The survey also shows that 80% of those interviewed admit the possibility of consuming without planning during the World Cup. If Brazil advances in the tournament, 47% say they could increase spending. Furthermore, 14% said they would go into debt to follow the World Cup experience.
