Who is the Brazilian CEO who is in Donald Trump’s entourage in China?

Brazilian Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm, is one of those this week. The list includes names like Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and Space X, and Tim Cook, from Apple.

In the role since June 30, 2021, Amon began his career at Qualcomm in 1995 as an engineer and, during his tenure, helped shape the company’s strategic direction in various leadership roles, the company reports.

Before becoming CEO, Amon was president of Qualcomm. In this role, he led the development of a leading and differentiated product roadmap, led Qualcomm’s 5G strategy – as well as its acceleration and global implementation.

Additionally, it drove the expansion and diversification of the business to serve multiple sectors, including automotive, computing, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), networking and industrial. He was also at the forefront of important mergers and acquisitions processes to expand Qualcomm’s capabilities in areas such as advanced driver assistance (ADAS), spatial computing, advanced CPU and RF interface.

Previously, Amon led Qualcomm’s semiconductor business as president of QCT. He has also held various technical and business leadership positions, including overall responsibility for the Snapdragon platforms.

Before that, he served as technical director at Vésper, a radio operator in Brazil, and held leadership positions at NEC, Ericsson and Velocom.

Amon has a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an honorary doctorate from Unicamp – State University of Campinas.

He is a member of the President’s Export Council, vice chairman of the US-China Business Council and currently serves on the board of directors of Adobe and Father Joe’s Villages.
