Yuri Alberto wants to leave Corinthians after the World Cup: “New goals”

Yuri Alberto may be close to leaving the Corinthians in the coming months. After scoring a goal, the striker revealed to journalists in the mixed zone that he asked to be traded.

“It was my request [a negociação]”, he said. “I wanted to look for new goals in the middle of the year. We’ll see. Until the end of the World Cup, we will have almost two months to resolve this issue. If it depends on my will, I’ll look for other airs. Outside the country, of course. I’m not crazy,” he added.

Yuri is going through a downturn at Alvinegro. The player was injured and missed a considerable number of matches. Upon his return, he suffered from a long period without goals – before tonight’s game, he hadn’t scored in over a month. The last one was against Platense, on April 9, in the Libertadores.

Paz did not rule out selling

At the beginning of the year, Marcelo Paz

“Corinthians is safe with Yuri Alberto. Corinthians will make the sale, if they understand that they have to make the sale, along the lines of what Yuri Alberto is worth. When you sell Yuri Alberto, you have to replace it at a similar level and it won’t be cheap. To replace a player with Yuri Alberto’s characteristics, it won’t be cheap. So, all this has to be considered when making a sale decision”, he explained.

When asked if it would be possible to keep the player at Timão for longer, Marcelo Paz was direct: “at some point he has to be sold”.

“People need to understand this. People need to understand that there is a turning point. This turning point is the financial issue, it is the age issue, it is the player’s desire to experience something new, to go to another reality, right? People have their dreams, their desires”, he added.

Despite not ruling out a future sale, Marcelo Paz highlighted that Yuri has a good contract with Corinthians. In July last year, the striker renewed with the Parque São Jorge club until July 2030.
