The former councilor and pre-candidate for the Senate for Santa Catarina (PL) stated this Saturday (May 16, 2026) that he had discussed “names of possible senators” with the former president (PL).
The face-to-face meeting was held at the former president’s house, in Brasília, and lasted “just two protocol hours”by order of the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes.
The pre-candidate reported that he traveled from Santa Catarina to the federal capital with the aim of “fulfilling obligations as a son” and pass on the support of supporters.
In addition to the electoral issues for the election, the former councilor detailed the medical condition of his father, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. Carlos said that the former president has his pain under control and will undergo rehabilitation for 6 to 9 months. He stated that the politician’s hiccups arise due to “psychological movement” and worsen in unfavorable environments.
Carlos classified Jair Bolsonaro as a “political persecution” what is “tortured daily” and prevented from communicating with the outside world. For the former councilor, the deprivation of receiving visits from friends and relatives is made “on purpose”.

In Santa Catarina, the senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency (PL-RJ) had already launched the pre-candidacies of his brother, Carlos, and the federal deputy (PL) to the Senate.
In the country’s largest Electoral College, São Paulo, the Bolsonaro group supports the federal deputy’s candidacies (PP-SP) and the president of Alesp, (PL-SP)for the two Senate seats up for grabs in the State.
