A Petrobras e a DOF Subsea will build four vessels for submarine support for operations in deep and ultra-deep waters. The deal involves eight contracts in a total value of R$11 billion for construction, chartering and services.
The agreement provides for the construction of the units at the Navship shipyard, in Navegantes (SC). The forecast is to reach up to 80% local content during the vessel construction stage and around 90% during vessel operation.
The vessels will be of the RSV (ROV Support Vessel) type, specialized in subsea inspection, maintenance and repair activitiesconsidered strategic for the continuity of the company’s offshore operations.
The initiative is expected to generate approximately 7 thousand direct jobs and indirect throughout the construction and operation phases, approximately 1,500 direct and 5,600 indirect.
“Petrobras’ current management has increased the number of suppliers by simplifying specifications, increasing competitiveness and heating up the naval market, with a greater volume of qualified proposals”, emphasized the executive manager of subsea systems at Petrobras, Flavio Brittany.
Hybrid propulsion
The new units will be equipped with hybrid propulsion systems, combining batteries, electric motors and fuels with a lower environmental impact. These are vessels suitable for reducing emissions.
The technology will allow for a reduction in fuel consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions. “We are investing in technological vessels, with reduction of carbon emissions. With this partnership we are keeping, alongside Petrobras, the naval industry increasingly heated”, said the CEO of DOF, Mario Fuzetti.
