Doctor Júlio Cesar Acosta Navarro, father of medical student Marco Aurélio Cardenas, killed by a Military Police agent after leaving a hotel in the south of São Paulo, in 2024, had his car stolen and his house invaded within an interval of around 40 days.
In a statement to the police, the doctor stated that he believed he may be being persecuted or targeted. According to him, the suspicion is based on three episodes: , the contact of a woman who introduced herself as a former partner of a military police officer and asked for help for reporting domestic violence, and , who had all the rooms ransacked.
Júlio reported that the first case occurred on Sunday, March 29, inside the parking lot of InCor (Heart Institute) of the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of USP (University of São Paulo).
“InCor, as you know, is a kind of Vatican of science and health, no one comes close, but on that day, they stole my car in a daring way (…) Then, in the afternoon, two men contacted me on my cell phone to try to deliver me personally to a different place”, said the student’s father in a report to CNN Brazil.
Navarro also stated that he received messages from two men indicating where the vehicle was. After locating the car, he filed a police report.
After this episode, on April 26, a woman identified as Dalila Prado, who claimed to be the ex-partner of a military police officer named Bruno do Prado, contacted the doctor, his wife, Silvia, and his son’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriele. According to Navarro, she asked for help when she stated that she was experiencing domestic violence and said that her family would be her only way out.
According to the doctor’s report, the woman was going to undergo forensic examinations at the IML (Legal Medical Institute) and stated that she feared for her son’s life, who would have been threatened, just like her.
The third episode took place last Saturday, May 9th. According to the doctor, he and other family members, all health professionals, upon returning from shifts in ICUs (Intensive Care Units), found the house ransacked.
“We found the house stolen. The house is an eight-room house, all the clothes were removed, stolen, jewelry and a computer”, he reported.
Navarro highlighted that the second and third episodes took place after meetings with the Secretary of Public Security of São Paulo, Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves. For him, due to the way the events occurred, there is evidence of involvement.
A CNN Brazil contacted the SSP-SP (São Paulo Public Security Secretariat), which informed that the Civil Police, through the 14th and 27th Police Districts, is investigating the events involving the doctor. The ministry added that investigations are ongoing to clarify the facts.
Regarding a possible relationship between the cases, the SSP stated that the possibility will be analyzed during the investigations.
The report also contacted InCor, but has not received a response so far.
