Motta relates the 6 x 1 scale to the fight against domestic violence

In Planalto, the president of the Chamber defended reducing working hours as a way to break the cycle of aggression

The president of Chamber of Deputies(Republicanos-PB), this Wednesday (May 20, 2026) linked the reduction of working hours to the fight against violence against women. The statement was made during an event that marked the 100th day of the National Pact to Prevent Femicideno Planalto Palace.

“It is impossible not to mention the reduction of working hours as one of the possible paths in this debate”said Motta. According to him, many women victims of violence do not even have time to report attacks or reorganize their lives.

Motta stated that Brazilian households are mostly headed by women, which makes the debate about working hours directly linked to female autonomy and security.

“Many of them become victims of violence and end up suffocated by the lack of time, even to report an attack or reorganize their own lives”he stated.

In his speech, the President of the Chamber took stock of the legislative actions since the signing of the pact. According to him, the House approved 73 proposals aimed at combating femicide in the period.

Among the measures approved are the use of electronic ankle bracelets by aggressors, the classification of vicarious violence and the creation of the National Register of People Convicted of Violence against Women.

Motta also announced the creation of a working group to debate the misogyny bill, coordinated by the deputy (PSB-SP).
