Sofa party: Arsenal become English champions 22 years later and didn't even need to enter the field

The Londoners, who had not won the title of English champion for 22 years, and who succeed Liverpool in the competition, have 82 points, four more than Manchester City.

This Tuesday, Arsenal became English champions, for the first time since 2004 and the 14th in their history, benefiting from Manchester City’s draw against Bournemouth, in the 37th and penultimate round of the Premier League.

City’s 1-1 draw, in a game with goals from Junior Kroupi (39 minutes) and Erling Haaland (90+5), allowed the team led by Spaniard Mikel Arteta, who on Monday beat already relegated Burnley 1-0, to reach the final round, scheduled for Sunday and in which they visit Crystal Palace, with the title already assured.

The Londoners, who will play in the Champions League final against French side Paris Saint-Germain on May 30, secured their 14th English championship title, a record surpassed only by Liverpool and Manchester United, both with 20 trophies.
