PT seeks “vaccine” for relationship with Daniel Vorcaro in Bahia

The PT has articulated a narrative strategy to protect itself from possible political repercussions resulting from the relationship between Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, and party members in Bahia. The information was investigated by political analyst Pedro Venceslau and detailed to the CNN 360º this Friday (22).

Anticipating that this connection will become ammunition for its opponents, the PT has already begun to put together a defense strategy. The central idea, according to Venceslau, is to argue that it all started with what Jaques Wagner called a “blunder”.

The “trambolho” in question is Cesta do Povo, a state-owned supermarket chain created by Antônio Carlos Magalhães in 1979, inherited by PT governments in Bahia and which generated expenses for the State.

In an interview with the newspaper Folha de S. Pauloalso published this Friday, Wagner explained that he and he tried to privatize this network through the Stock Exchange, without success in two consecutive attempts.

It was in this context that businessman Augusto Lima emerged, appointed as a former partner of Daniel Vorcaro at the beginning of Banco Master. According to the PT members’ narrative, Lima would have the appropriate profile for the acquisition as it already has experience with benefits cards, in addition to having financial resources.

He would have purchased both the supermarket chain and the benefits card called Credcesta, used by state public employees.

Despite the narrative strategy under construction, Venceslau pointed out an element that still represents a weak point for the PT: the relationship between Bonnie Bonilha and Banco Master.

According to the analyst, she would have maintained contracts with the institution for three years, between 2022 and 2025, information initially revealed by the portal Metropolises and later confirmed by CNN.

The PL offensive

At the same time that the PT outlines this narrative, the PL has launched an offensive to try to alleviate the strain associated with Flávio Bolsonaro’s relationship with Daniel Vorcaro, seeking

According to Venceslau, members of the PL have insisted on the same line of argument. “There is hope that the Federal Police will reach the PT in Bahia. It is no longer enough for the opposition to say that Lula met the former banker outside the agenda. This meeting is small compared to Flávio Bolsonaro’s intimacy with Vorcaro”, points out the analyst.

The opposition’s main bet would, therefore, be for the relationship between Rui Costa and Jaques Wagner, both former governors of Bahia, to come to light with the case.
