Virada Cultural takes place this weekend in SP; see changes in the city

The event will have 24 hours of programming with international shows and special operations at the Metro and CPTM

The city of São Paulo receives, this Saturday (23) and Sunday (24), the Cultural Turn 2026. The event will have 21 stages spread across all regions of the capital, with musical performances, samba school parades e cinema sessions. To meet the estimated audience of 4.8 million peopleone special scheme was set up in relation to the operation of the subway and the CPTM lines.

The artists’ presentations are divided into zones. Node centerthe stages feature names such as Seu Jorge, Marina Sena and a stage dedicated to female voices. In east sidethere will be shows by Thiaguinho and Luísa Sonza, while north zone will have Sidney Magal and Titãs. THE area on will feature Péricles and Gustavo Mioto, and the west side there will be a rock-oriented stage with CPM22 and Biquini Cavadão.

This year’s edition includes international attractionssuch as South Korean band 1VERSE and singer Manu Chao. The three samba schools that won Carnival 2026 — Mocidade Alegre, Império da Casa Verde and Acadêmicos do Tucuruvi — also perform.

How will transportation work?

O Metro will operate 24 hours a day on lines 1-Blue, 2-Green, 3-Red and 15-Silver. During the early hours of the morning, boarding will only be permitted at Anhangabaú and São Bento stations, with the others only open for disembarking. At CPTM, all lines workbut Line 11-Coral will have longer intervals due to maintenance work on the tracks and the overhead network.

When traveling by bus, 1,128 lines will be in operationwith 141 in the early morning hours. On Sunday, the day when fares are already free in the city, the bus fleet will be increased by 41%.

Cultural events

Furthermore, cultural institutions such as the Pinacoteca, the Portuguese Language Museum and the Football Museum will have free admission on the weekend. Masp will operate for the first time for 24 hours straight, also without entry fees.

In the cinema area, the event promotes 50 sessions with sensory adaptations for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Films shown include Michael, Super Mario Galaxy: The Movie and Zico: Quintino’s Samurai.
