Athlete was found dead in São Paulo and case is investigated as suspicious death; cause of death has not yet been released
The bodybuilder and fitness influencer Gabriel Ganley passed away on Saturday (23), at the age of 22. Considered one of the greatest promises of the new generation of the “maromba” scene in Brazil, the young man’s death was confirmed by his sponsor, Integralmedica, and by security agencies in São Paulo.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), Gabriel’s body was located on Saturday morning in a residence on Rua da Mooca, east of the capital of São Paulo. The influencer was found fallen on the kitchen floor by a friend. According to the police report, no apparent signs of violence were found at the scene.
The case was registered as suspicious death (sudden death) in the 42nd DP (Parque São Lucas). Technical expertise was called to examine the location and the body. So far, the official cause of death has not been revealed. Estadão tried to contact the athlete’s family and sponsor to obtain new details, but there was no response.
In an official statement, Integralmedica highlighted the young man’s legacy: “We lost much more than a talented and dedicated athlete, with a bright future ahead of him. We lost an influencer who inspired thousands of young people daily with his energy and authenticity.” Look:

Who was Gabriel Ganley
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Ganley lived in São Paulo and was a phenomenon on social media, where he was called “bbzinho”. He had more than 1.7 million followers on Instagram and 1.1 million on TikTok, platforms he used to document his high performance routine e motivate young people to exercise.
The athlete was in an active preparation phase for Musclecontest Brasil, a bodybuilding championship that will be held in Curitiba (PR), in July. In addition to his sports career, he studied Physical Education up to the fifth period at UFRJ.
The death generated commotion among the main names in fitness in the country. Renato Cariani, one of the biggest influencers in the sector, lamented the loss: “May the heavens receive you with joy”. Influencer Itinho Lima asked for respect for the family’s privacy, while Toguro stated that “bodybuilding is in mourning”.
