A hundred forest firefighters limit the fire declared this Sunday in Doñana | News from Andalusia

The forest fire within the Doñana National Park, and later updated to the La Algaida area, remains active but confined, with the head and tail no longer active, as reported by the Junta de Andalucía. The flames have been contained since last night and the fire has stopped its expansion, while it has kept nearly a hundred troops working on the ground throughout the morning.

The Andalusian Government is investigating the origin of the fire and does not rule out intentionality, given the time and place in which it started, as well as the succession of fires recorded in the area in recent days. On Sunday afternoon, a first place known as Corral de Félix was already extinct.

The acting advisor to the Presidency, Antonio Sanz, explained that the fire started around six in the afternoon in the area between Laguna Larga and the surroundings of Membrillo, and that the rapid reaction allowed up to nine aerial means to be mobilized at first, in addition to a wide ground deployment. In total, up to 11 aircraft operated until nightfall.

At this time, the fire is confined between the dunes, the beach and the marsh, with activity only on the left and right flanks. The weather forecasts, with wind from the south, allow us to trust in a favorable evolution and that the fire may be stabilized early in the morning.

During the night, four fire engines, two tractors with harrows to finish the perimeter, four BRICA brigades, five groups of forest firefighters, operations technicians and analysis and health support units remained working. The Board has sent a message of calm and has stressed that there is no risk for El Rocío, which is very far from the affected area.
