Antonio Conte announced his departure as coach of Napoli this Sunday (24), after leading the team in a 1-0 home victory over Udinese, valid for the last round of the Italian Championship.
The 56-year-old coach confirmed the decision in a press conference held alongside club president Aurelio De Laurentiis after the game. He took over the club in July 2024 and won the national title in his debut season, as well as this year’s Italian Super Cup.
Conte’s last match was decided by a goal scored by striker Rasmus Hojlund in the 23rd minute, guaranteeing the hosts second place in the table, 11 points behind champions Inter Milan.
The former Italy and Italy coach revealed that he started talks about his departure due to his relationship with De Laurentiis. According to the local press, Conte is one of the main candidates to take command of the national team.
