Iran cites progress in negotiations with the US but says agreement is not imminent

Iran’s government also said it will begin charging fees for ‘navigation services’ from ships transiting the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump on April 29 warned Iran to “better get smart soon” as efforts by Washington and Tehran to end hostilities appeared at a standstill.

O Iran stated this Monday (25) that there are advances in negotiations with the United States to end the lasting warbut highlighted that the agreement is not imminent.

“It is true that we have reached a conclusion on most of the issues under discussion,” declared Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei at his weekly press conference.

“But stating that the signing of an agreement is imminent is something that no one can support,” he added.

O government of Iran also stated that it will begin charging fees for “navigation services” of ships that transit through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

“The services provided, that is, navigation services, as well as the measures necessary to protect the environment of the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf and the Sea of ​​Oman, require the charging of certain fees,” Baqaei stated.

He added, however, that Iran “does not seek to charge tolls”.
