After changes in the areas that investigate fraud, the PF leadership () sent a letter to the minister, rapporteur of the case at the (Supreme Federal Court), saying that the change was just “bureaucratic” and does not interfere in the conduct of investigations.
The gesture was made after the minister showed irritation and suggested that he would order the real reason for the changes to be investigated.
The change had a negative impact on politics. The opposition has said it is part of a strategy to shield the president’s son, the . The police are investigating Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as Careca from the INSS.
The PF says that it is only under the umbrella of the Coordination of Inquiries in Superior Courts, which investigates people with privileged jurisdiction.
The argument is that the delegates who investigate INSS fraud continue to act normally in the case and that, in fact, there was a reinforcement of the team.
The head of the division that underwent the change is delegate Guilherme Figueiredo Silva, who was also taken by surprise by the decision of the Federal Police leadership.
According to the corporation, Silva was not the head of this investigation. In fact, there are several investigations that investigate fraud and each has a delegate responsible.
Some members of the Federal Police say, however, that he is the one who has an overview of all investigations on the subject. It was he, for example, who participated in the negotiations of three plea agreements, including that of businessman Maurício Camisotti, who has already signed an agreement with the PF.
Silva has told delegates that he intends to step down as head of the area responsible for investigating fraud. After the change, he would have expressed dissatisfaction to his closest friends.
He has already been informed, however, that if he leaves he will have to put in writing that he intends to leave the case and that he has not been removed from his position. The PF leadership wants to avoid accusations that
