O Google inaugurated this Wednesday (27) the second building dedicated to research. At an event for the press and guests, the news was announced and the building was presented.
The building was installed in the Technological Research Institute (IPT)within the USP University City. 400 jobs were opened, which will operate from July 2026.
The space must invest in technological research with a focus on innovation and digital security, offering opportunities for students at the University of São Paulo.
“This historic building, which has already completed 127 years, was restored to allow the installation of the technology center,” said Fábio Coelho, president of Google in Brazil, at the event.
The mayor of the city of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes, was present; o , the doctor and professor Aluísio Augusto Cotrim Segurado; the president of Google in Brazil, Fábio Coelho; and Vahan Agopyan, Secretary of Science and Innovation of São Paulo.
Technology center projects
Projects such as the IPT Openwhich is dedicated to strengthening and functions as a technology hub; and the GSEC (Google Safety Engineering Center)an enterprise cybersecurity and privacy innovation and engineering center.
Additionally, Google Campus will dedicate efforts to investing in startups that work with and in inclusive technologies for minorities.
“Our goal is to develop a more inclusive country and be able to help companies that develop with artificial intelligence”, celebrated Fábio Coelho.
The space will receive 120 people per week with the aim of establishing connections between entrepreneurs, academics and large companies.
Safety first
According to Eduardo Tejada, global vice president of privacy and security at Google, digital security is one of the focuses of the technology center.
“I believe that Brazil will have an important role to play in defending the country from digital attacks,” he said at the inauguration event.
