NFL star arrested in US on domestic violence charges

O running back Josh Jacobsdo Green Bay Packerswas arrested this Tuesday (26), in the state of Wisconsin, in the United States. The player faces five charges related to domestic violence, according to a statement released by the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department.

According to authorities, the police were called last Saturday (23) to respond to a disturbance involving the athlete. After the initial investigation, Jacobs was arrested and booked into the Brown County Jail.

Among the charges filed against the player are assault in the context of domestic violence, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, intimidation of a victim and strangulation and suffocation. The latter is considered a more serious criminal charge, classified as a felony in local court records.

Case remains under investigation

The police reported that the case remains under investigation and, therefore, new details will not be released at this time. Jacobs’ lawyers released a press release stating that the athlete “vehemently denies the allegations.” The defense also asked for caution until the conclusion of the judicial process.

The Green Bay Packers also commented on the episode. In a statement sent to the North American press, the franchise stated that it was aware of the situation involving the player, but said that it would not make any further comments due to the ongoing investigation.

At 28 years old, Josh Jacobs is in his third season with the Packers. The player arrived at the franchise in 2024, after signing a four-year contract. Before that, the running back played for five seasons with the then Las Vegas Raiders, the team that selected him in the first round of the .

Jacobs’s main season was 2022, when he led the NFL in rushing yards and was named to the league’s All-Star Team. Throughout his career, he has also been called up to the Pro Bowl in 2020, 2022 and 2024.

In the last NFL season, the running back recorded more than 1,200 total yards and scored 14 touchdowns in 15 games played.
