Chamber approves end-of-scale PEC 6×1

The proposal to reduce working hours and increase weekly time off will be forwarded to the Senate for consideration

Plenary approved proposal in two rounds

The Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday (27) the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) to end the 6×1 work schedule. Now the text is forwarded to consideration in the Senate.

According to the the proposal establishes the reduction of the maximum working day from 44 hours to 40 hours per week without salary reduction e increases the weekly day off to two days, not necessarily consecutive.

“The transition to a 40-hour week, combined with the guarantee of two days of paid weekly rest and the maintenance of salaries, is a viable, urgent and necessary measure. It rescues the constitutional promise of valuing work and human dignity”, argued the rapporteur, federal deputy Leo Prates (Republicanos-BA), .

The consideration in the Chamber Plenary was made in two shifts. . In the second round, 461 deputies approved the proposal and 19 rejected it.
