In the White House there is time for the word games. He polysemous term ‘alien’ -extraterrestrial or foreigner in English- has been chosen by the Trump Administration to count citizens in the government website the threats posed by immigrants, whom they compare with beings from outside the planet, and invites them to participate in the interactive game.
Under the heading ‘They walk among us’ -‘They walk among us’-, the document states that “for 60 years”, the US Government has maintained a closely guarded secret that is none other than the ‘aliens’ who “have been walking among us, living in our neighborhoods and interacting with us in our daily lives.” “They have shopped in the same stores, attended the same classes as our children, and lived seemingly normal, human existences; with one exception, they do not belong here,” he continues.
The page contains a interactive US map in which it lists the locations where the ‘aliens’ have been detained as well as their country of origin. The count is 3,130,000 on a scoreboard that continues to rise.
Invitation to complain
In the same tone of sarcasm and offense, the official document invites citizens to “report suspicious aliens” and then provide the number of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE). “If you have witnessed an abduction, do not be alarmed, the alien is in good hands,” reads the page, which adds: “We will take care of it and return it safely to its place of origin.”
After stating that millions of these people “came under cover of darkness and became directly embedded in our society,” the text refers to the lack of diligence of “countless presidents, congressmen and senior officials “They knew exactly what was happening.” He accuses the former leaders of “accelerating and covering up” the invasion instead of providing security to American citizens.
It is then when the president Trump – described as “bold”, “fearless” and “without hard feelings” –is presented as “the man who finally had the courage to tell the truth” and in pointing out “the true danger that foreigners pose to every American family, every community, and the future of our nation.”
