Lula asks the left to wear green and yellow at the World Cup – 05/30/2026 – Politics

The Brazilian left needs to learn to use the colors green and yellow at the World Cup so that they are not taken over by fascists, said the president (PT) this Saturday afternoon (30), in Rio de Janeiro, at the launch of the platform.

Lula referred to the colors present in the national flag at the beginning of his speech, when he saw the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Cavaliere (PSD), wearing a yellow coat, from the Brazilian team.

The two colors, in politics, have been dominated by allies of (PL) for years and, since taking office in its third term, the Lula government has sought to encourage green and yellow.

“Our mayor Cavaliere, who is here dressed in green and yellow. You need to put on green and yellow and say ‘no Bolsonarista’. This is something that the left will have to learn to do. We will have to, in this case, wear green and yellow so as not to let Brazil’s colors be taken by any fascist”, stated the president, who was applauded by those present.

Then, author Paulo Betti, who was on stage at the event alongside other actors, displayed a Brazilian flag.

Tela Brasil is the new public streaming service dedicated exclusively to Brazilian audiovisual, which was launched by Lula and the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezes, during Rio2C.

During his 15-minute speech, Lula said that Brazil today has gained “a lot of respectability” and again criticized privatizations, arguing that the processes did not bring gains to Brazilian society. He cited, for example, the sale of BR Distribuidora by Petrobras.

“Whoever wants to be respected has to respect themselves,” he said. “We’re not ugly anymore, we’re not shorter. We’re the same as everyone else,” he added at another point.

STREAMING GRATUITO

The streaming initiative was developed by the Ministry of Culture with support from Ufal (Federal University of Alagoas), with the aim of expanding the population’s access to national audiovisual production. , integrated into gov.br.

In its initial phase, the service will only be available in the web version, with apps for iOS and Android expected to be launched in the following weeks.

The debut catalog brings together more than 560 works, including short, medium and feature films, series and documentaries. The selection includes classics of Brazilian cinema, Oscar-nominated films and contemporary productions, covering different regions, periods and styles of national cinematography.

The platform also incorporates accessibility features, such as audio description, descriptive subtitling and translation into Libras.
