Governor Celina Leão, from DF, is hospitalized in Brasília with respiratory symptoms

The governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão (PP), was hospitalized this Saturday, 30, in Brasília (DF), after showing respiratory symptoms. She is being treated at Hospital Santa Lúcia, in the Southern Hospital Sector, to treat a pneumothorax (presence of air between the layers of the pleura, the inner membrane of the chest) and will be under medical observation, according to government information.

The accumulation of air between the lung and the chest wall can cause pain in the region and discomfort or difficulty breathing.

Celina took over the government of the Federal District after the resignation of Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), of whom she was deputy, to run for a seat in the Senate.

The two broke up last week, however, in the wake of the crisis caused by the involvement of Banco Regional de Brasília (BRB) in the biggest tax fraud in the history of Brazil operated by Daniel Vorcaro’s Banco Master.

Ibaneis was a guarantor for the attempted purchase of Master by BRB when he was still in government. The former president of the district bank, Paulo Henrique Costa, is in prison – and could involve the former governor in a possible denunciation.

Today Celina tries to separate herself from her predecessor and the Master’s crisis. In an interview with Estadão, the governor stated that each of the two had a different CPF when asked about their involvement with Banco Master.
