The national president of the PSD, Gilberto Kassab, told the Political Broadcast (Grupo Estado’s real-time news system) this Saturday, 30, that the party keeps open the possibility of a composition with the former governor of Minas Gerais Romeu Zema (Novo) in this year’s presidential contest. According to the leader, however, the definition of the acronym’s path should only take place in July.

Currently, the PSD pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic is the former governor of Goiás Ronaldo Caiado. “We can indicate an ally, in case of an alliance. And it is also possible that the vice-president is from the PSD. In this case, we will look for the best profile to help Caiado win the election and, later, govern”, said Kassab.
Within the PSD, the discussion is not limited to choosing a vice-president for Caiado. The party is evaluating whether it will seek a broader composition in the center-right camp, which could open up space for Zema, or whether it will preserve an all-party, pure-blood ticket, with the party also occupying the position of vice-president.
