After ending his adventure in Brazil, as assistant coach for the Brazilian national team and coach of Botafogo, Davide Ancelotti arrives in France to lead Lille and build a career outside the shadow of his father Carlo.
The club announced this Monday (1st) the signing of the Italian for two seasons, replacing Bruno Genesio, who managed to place the team in the next Champions League after finishing third in the French championship.
“Davide is a great professional, with all the qualities and skills of a modern coach,” declared Lille president Olivier Létang in the club’s official statement.
At 36, Ancelotti will lead a European team for the first time, having spent just six months as head coach at Botafogo a year ago.
Most of his career was as an assistant to his father Carlo at Bayern Munich (2016-2017), Napoli (2018-2019), Everton (2019-2021) and, mainly, Real Madrid (2021-2025).
After leaving the merengue club, he accompanied his father to Brazil when he took charge of the Brazilian national team in 2025, returning to the team at the beginning of March this year, after a disappointing spell at Botafogo.
Under his command, the Rio de Janeiro team finished in sixth place in the Brazilian Championship and won a place in the qualifying phase of the Copa Libertadores.
