The minister of the (Federal Supreme Court) suffered a domestic accident during the week and canceled his trip to the Forum, an event organized by his STF colleague, and which is nicknamed Gilmarpalooza.
Dino suffered a torn ligament in his foot. According to the minister’s office, the injury occurred due to a domestic accident during the week. He is recovering at his home in São Luís, Maranhão.
The judge published an article on the Jota website in which he addressed the issue he was going to discuss at the forum, but canceled his participation in the event.
“Surprised by a small domestic accident, I did not obtain medical authorization for a long flight to Lisbon, in order to participate in another edition of the always successful Forum, coordinated by my colleague and friend Gilmar Mendes”, stated Dino in an article in Jota.
In his presentation, Dino would talk about “transformative constitutionalism”. In the article, the judge argues that the 1988 law should act as an active tool for social change and guaranteeing rights.
The Lisbon Forum will be held from June 1st to 3rd. The sessions take place at the Faculty of Law of Universidade Paulista, in , and the event is now in its 14th edition.
The term Gilmarpalooza refers to the Lollapalooza music festival, due to the size of the meeting, which brings together authorities, lawyers, businesspeople and politicians in debates, side events and social gatherings.
It is organized by the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development and Research (IDP), which has Gilmar as a partner. The event is a partnership with the Lisbon Public Law Research Center and FGV Justiça, from Fundação Getulio Vargas.
