“Michael” becomes Universal Pictures’ biggest release in Brazil

The biopic “Michael”which tells the story of the singer’s personal and professional life Michael Jackson, consecrated the biggest release in the history of Universal Pictures in Brazil.

According to studio data, the film reached the mark of 6.8 million viewers in national cinemas and grossed more than R$ 155 million in box office, until now.

With its great internal success, the film surpassed the values ​​obtained by “Despicable Me 4” (R$ 152.2 million), the largest so far.

Marked by the direction of Antoine Fuqua, Known for his work on “Training Day” and “Invasion of the White House”, the plot features Juliano Valdi and like Michael at different stages of his life.

A few days after being released, the biopic already exceeded US$700 million in sales, which made the production the second highest-grossing film of 2026. According to internal sources, consulted by Variety magazine,

“We believe that we already have 25 to 30% of a second film recorded from the previous production, and obviously this will bring some benefit [financeiro] at the end of the day, but we will ensure that we make a great and satisfying film for global audiences once again”, said Adam Fogelson, head of film at Lionsgate, to the North American portal.
