The Deputy Chairman of the National Council (NR) of the SR Tibor Gašpar (Smer-SD) cannot represent the parliament and must resign due to his impeachment. They informed about it at Monday’s press conference representatives of the opposition PS. They also pointed out that Gašpar defends himself on the grounds of the National Council and uses his lawyer for that.
“This is not some show about crime or the defense of the perpetrator. And we were waiting for Mr. Tibor Gašpar, the indicted vice-chairman of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, to come, make a political press release, to which he will bring his lawyer in a criminal case, who is here demonstrating the public defense of his client in the legislature of the Slovak Republic.” pointed out Zuzana, a member of the SR SR Števulová (PS).
Chairman of the PS Michal movement Simečka emphasized that the calls for Gašpar’s departure from the leadership of the parliament are not personal. “I have no special relationship, nor do I feel any special hatred towards Mr. Gašpar. From the way he acts, as well as Mr. Fico and other ‘leaders’, I feel that they are consumed by hatred towards me or towards my family or towards Progressive Slovakia. For two years they have been talking about my partner and my grandfather, they have dismissed me and again and again spewed sulfur at the representatives of Progressive Slovakia.” he declared that if Gašpar had committed what he was accused of, he should be sentenced.
He also defended the statements of PS representatives that Gašpar is the face of an organized criminal group. He also pointed out that his coalition removed him from the post of deputy speaker of the parliament.
